COW POWER

EFS Marge

In 2001 I purchased 3 heifers from the Edwards family Letcher, SD.  They were great cows and my first pick, EFS Marge 016 is still active in the herd and will be getting flushed summer/fall.  Marge is a great cow that always stays in good condition, weans a big calf, and breeds back.  Her performance is complimented by a pedigree backed by greats like Touche', Dividend's Impact, Irish Mist, and the Augusta's

 GB Tangerine

It's hard to find cattle with the rib shape and dimension she has.  In terms of production, she has been one of the best cows I have owned.  after Tangerine had her 9th calf she boasted an averge calving interval of 357 days.  Her pedigree contains Byland Big Bud and CCS White Tornado, two of the three pacer performance sires, as well as RB Eagle, and Golden Chain.  I have daughters and granddaughters in the herd, but not nearly enough.  Tangerine was flushed in the fall of 2010.  Her first flush resulted in 5 embryos by Saskvalley Bonanza.  A second flush  yielded 11 embryo's by Muridale Buster 14K.  Her third and final flush gave 10 embryo's by MSF Equity 43.

TR Golden Lace

Golden Lace has a lot to offer.  Genetically she is backed by the likes of:  Armstrong Gold, Eagle, Gunsmoke,  Marc IV, Gus 80 C, Quane, and the solid producing White Rose cow.  Phenotypically she is angular in her design, structurally correct, and has a nice square udder that's not too big.  She has been a maternal machine, weaning good calf every year.  She is pictured to the left as a first calf heifer with her bull calf by Waukaru Carnegie 3126.

Grannie

The Grannie cow line started with a purebred pair that my dad bought at the salebarn decades ago.  That original cow was part of the commercial cow herd for over ten years and her daughter for much longer.  A great amount of the commercial herd traces back to the daughter.  These genetics have been too good for too long and have a lot to offer our herd and the shorthorn breed.  I wish we knew the genetics of that first cow.  We have been keeping records and will start recording the Grannies in the Shorthorn Plus program.
